Realme X3 Superzoom Review

The Realme X3 superzoom was officially launched in May 2020, and was officially released June 02 2020.

This Realme X3 superzoom is the first Realme phone that comes with a periscope telephoto camera - an 8MP sensor behind a 122mm lens, which the company marks as 5x optical and 60x hybrid zoom. Alongside it is a 64MP main sensor, but there's an ultrawide camera too - MASSIVE RIGHT!

It comes with 6.6 inches with IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. the resolution is about 1080x2400 pixels. The device comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5, it is also embedded with the operating system (OS) of Android 10.0 + Realme UI.

The smartphone is powered with Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855+ Octa-core processor.

The internal storage is 128 GB + 256 GB while the RAM supports 8 GB + 12 GB. The Realme X3 SuperZoom consists of a quad-camera 64 MP (wide) + 8 MP (periscope telephoto) 5x optical zoom + 8 MP (ultrawide) + 2 MP (macro).

On the front, there is a dual 32 MP (wide) + 8 MP (ultrawide) camera. The smartphone is available in two colors such as Glacier Blue and Arctic White.

The smartphone is fueled with a non-removable Li-Po 4200 mAh battery + Fast charging 30W, 100% in 55 min (advertised). It features Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, and USB. The device is built with Glass front, plastic back, and plastic frame.

The Realme X3 superzoom also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of the under-display one, I think the side-mounted fingerprint scanner seems to be unique, you know!, but the actual button on the side is quite protruded and its sharp edges make its usage slightly uncomfortable if you don’t touch it perfectly in the middle.

This smartphone camera as I said earlier is topnotch - the periscopic zoom camera. The overall camera setup is similar to what you get on the Realme X50 Pro 5G (Review), with the main change being the telephoto camera.

Realme has used an 8-megapixel sensor with a periscope-style lens, the kind you get on the Huawei P30 Pro (Review), and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra (Review).

It is capable of an impressive 5x optical zoom and can go all the way to 60x hybrid zoom. I still have a lot of testing to do, but the initial samples I've shot definitely look promising. It'll be fun to see how the Realme X3 SuperZoom compares to the OnePlus 8 Pro (Review) and Samsung Galaxy S20+ (Review).

The other rear cameras are a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, there are 32-megapixel main and 8-megapixel wide-angle cameras.

Realme has also added new features in the camera app. There are now multiple settings within Night mode to choose from, including something called Starry mode. Like the Google Pixel 4's Astrophotography mode,

Realme claims that this will allow you to capture stars in the sky, constellations, etc. A clear night sky is a prerequisite for such a shot, so i hope that the rain gods are kind to me while I'll be testing this out over the next few days.

The Realme X3 Superzoom is priced at 256GB 12GB RAM € 499.00 on Amazon.de and € 603.96 on amazon.com.
